The holding company RAR - Sociedade de Controle (Holding), SA, has directly or indirectly controlled all the Group’s shareholdings since its creation in 1981.

RAR Holding also manages the RAR Group’s relationship with the community and has longstanding links with the cultural world. RAR is a founding member of the Serralves Foundation and of the Casa da Música Foundation.

In the area of social responsibility, RAR contributes to social and civic causes through sponsorship and donations to various institutions, in particular those directed at education, research and innovation.

Examples of this include RAR’s involvement in the establishment and development of the Higher School of Biotechnology, with which it has maintained links for many years. It also has partnerships with the Institute of Experimental and Technological Biology and the University of Porto Business School (EGP-UPBS).

RAR is also a founding member of several leading organisations such as COTEC Portugal - Business Association for Innovation.
